Harmonia: Goya’s Land

Harmonia: Goya’s Land is the perfect mix between a land builder game, pet game and a farming simulation. Players collect exciting items, solve fun quests, and play mini-games while managing resources to strategize the development of one’s environment.

Inspired by successful games such as Animal Crossing and Hayday, Harmonia is the perfect balance between short game sessions and a long-term environment evolution.

Watch this short demo of Harmonia’s gameplay.

The Objective

Harmonia: Goya’s Land’s main objective is to entertain.

It is a benevolent cocoon that takes us away from the hassles of everyday life. The game is fun, possesses an extensive gameplay and has unique graphics and a dedicated universe.

Nowhere else will you find Frogallows, Battelions or villagers such as Channelle or Argos.

To spice up the gaming experience, in addition to the fun narrative, players can collect and trade NFTs (without needing to know what an NFT is) and feel fully in control of what they are building.

The game will also see future evolution in AR & VR to improve the closeness with this world-owned game for players.

What were the challenges?

The

Problem

1. Integrating NFTs into traditional gameplay

Harmonia’s team wanted to let traditional players enjoy the game experience. After all, this is the main point of building a game. They were stuck as they did not know how to combine a full web2 gaming experience with the opportunity to collect and trade NFTs.

2. Managing a large number of assets on the blockchain

The Harmonian world has an impressive inventory of resources: royal jelly, snail slime, cake crumbs and batteries and more – all to make this new world a flourishing and balanced ecosystem. But understanding how to manage these resources and convert them into reward tokens, available on the blockchain and tradeable was a challenge.

The

Solution

1. An integrated back-end system

L3v3l’s back-end lets the team create and manage items, both on and off the blockchain (NFTs). This has drastically reduced the time it took to develop the features and enabled the team to stick with a web2 gaming experience, in a free-to-play mode.

2. Tokenizing the game economy

They were able to create and manage quantities of resources, set-up when these resources needed to appear and allow the best players to convert them in a USDC token – a tradeable stable coin on a blockchain materializing a real-world value for those players. On top of that, converting in-game currencies into USDC provides another token. This token assigns some governance power for the future of the game.
NB: the conversion could also take place with a game cryptocurrency or in an established cryptocurrency.

What’s unique about this project?

  • Unique universe & game mechanics (crafting of items, asynchronous multiplayer, buildings upgrade, quests & mini-games)
  • Seven NPCs with one cooperative each for governance purposes
  • A quest integrated with an external Reward token to link gaming time to more rewards and real-life impact
  • An economy with a sustainable and transparent way to reward players, while allowing new players to competitively enter the game
